It's one of the most common questions we get: bounce house or water slide? Both are guaranteed hits, but they're better suited to different situations. Here's how to think through the decision.

Start with the season

This is usually the deciding factor. A water slide (or a wet/dry combo, which lets you use it both ways) is the obvious choice for a Texas summer party โ€” kids will be looking for any way to cool off once the temperature climbs into the 90s. In cooler months, a straightforward dry bounce house or obstacle course keeps the fun going without anyone getting chilled.

Think about the age range

Younger kids (toddlers through early elementary) often do better with a classic bounce house or a smaller castle-style unit โ€” plenty of open bounce space without the added complexity of a slide. Water slides and combo units tend to be a bigger hit with elementary-age kids and up, who are more confident navigating stairs and drops.

Check your yard space and water access

Water slides need a nearby water source (a garden hose is usually enough) and slightly more setup space than a comparable bounce house, since the slide and landing area add length. If your yard is on the smaller side, a compact bounce house or an interactive game might be the better fit โ€” we list the actual footprint for every unit on our booking page so you can measure your space ahead of time.

Consider a combo unit

If you genuinely can't decide, a combo unit (bounce + slide in one) or a wet/dry-capable unit gives you both without needing two separate rentals. Many of our combo units can be run wet for an extra splash factor or kept dry โ€” see our wet vs. dry guide for how that pricing works.
